About Electronics for Aspiring Engineers:

Beginning with electronic components and semiconductor devices, the course progresses to practical implementation through application-based electronic circuits, energy-efficient lighting, solar photovoltaic systems, Sensors, and Arduino-based embedded controllers.

The program emphasizes experiential learning, with 80% hands-on training and 20% theoretical instruction.

Objective:

The course aims to inspire students to pursue careers in electronics and equip them with the technical confidence to address real-world technological challenges.

Course Outcome:

Understand the functions of basic electronic circuits and Gain hands-on experience in circuit building and testing.

Build a strong conceptual foundation that makes it easier to tackle competitive exams.

Develop confidence to pursue higher studies or careers in the electronics domain.

Eligibility:

Class 12 appeared (students who have appeared for Class 12 board examinations).


Certificate Provider : IIT Madras – Department of Electrical Engineering

Certificate Provider : Participation Certificate will be issued upon completion.

Duration of the course : 3 days per slot (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM each day)

Course Structure:

Module 1 – Foundations of Electronics

  • – Electronic components: Finding values, Functions and Testing methods
  • – Handling Source and Measuring instruments: Digital Multimeter, Galvanometer, Oscilloscope measurement of different waveform signals from signal generator
  • – Verification of Ohm’s law and Kirchhoff’s laws
  • – Building simple resistive, capacitive, resonant circuits, Filter circuits
  • – Testing of Input-Output Devices: Switches, Electromagnetic Relay, LED, RGB LED, Bargraph, 7 Segment Display, Buzzer, Volume and pitch variation in speaker

Module 2 – Application-Based Circuits with Semiconductor Devices

  • – Semiconductor devices: Functional Testing, I-V Characteristics
  • – Design, Building and testing application circuits: Clippers, Rectifiers, Voltage regulators, Transistor as a Switch and Amplifiers.
  • – Simple Series-Parallel design and testing with Energy efficient white LEDs
  • – Functional testing of Solar Photovoltaic Module with mini DC fan

Module 3 – Application-Based circuits with Sensors

  • – Functional testing of Ambient, Infrared Light Sensor and Temperature sensors
  • – Building and testing Application circuits with above sensors

Module 4 – Digital Logics and Embedded Systems with Arduino

  • – Testing of Digital Gates: AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR, EXOR
  • – Introduction to Arduino: hardware, IDE, and programming basics
  • – Interfacing Input and Output Devices with Arduino
  • – Measuring different parameters with Arduino
  • – Interfacing Sensors and Actuators with Arduino

Dr. V. Sankaran
IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies

Dr. V. Sankaran received his Ph.D. Degree from Anna University in 1986 in the areas of Computer Networks. He worked as Professor from 1986 to 1995 in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in a few colleges like Sri Venkateswara, SRM and Sathyabama, Chennai. Also, he worked as Dean at VIT for an year in the year 2014. He is a guest faculty for IIIT Design and Development, Chennai.

He moved to IT industry in 1995 and worked as Project Manager, Delivery Manager, Program Manager and Director in companies like L-Cube Innovative Solutions, HCL Technologies, Packet Island and BroadSoft.

His IT industry experience is over 30+ years and his strength are in the areas of Computer Networks, Security, UI Technology, Linux Kernel Programming, Device Drivers and Data Engineering.

Course covers :

Electronics and Embedded controller experiments with Universal Trainer kit.

Advanced Embedded and Remote controlled IoT projects.

Proto type project design with schematic and PCB Design.
